Compressed air worst offender

Kikkoman Foods Europe B.V. is known for their famos Kikkoman Soy Sauce. Preparation of this 'black gold' involves consuming a large amount of water, gas, electricity and compressed air. Compressed air is the most expensive from these energy sources, and was therefore the first point of interest when the 'Energy Saving Commitee' was set up within Kikkoman a few years ago. Ingersoll Rand analysed the compressed air system, resulting in replacing the current compressors for two 75W compressors. VPInstruments placed mass flow meters on every department of the factory, enabling the factory to keep an eye on the compressed air consumption. Together with the visualisation system VPVision the compressed air system is precisely measured so leaks can be be spotted as fast as possible. The result was that Kikkoman Foods Europe B.V. saved 32% of energy on the compressors only.

'Compressed air worst offender'

VPFlowScope

Compressed air flow meters are becoming increasingly more popular. Many flow measurement devices are available, and every technology has its own unique features and benefits, which can make it difficult to choose the right flow meter for your application. This overview shows what flow meters are available and more important, why the VPFlowScope is such a unique device. The success lies within the combination of mass flow, pressure and temperature measurement all in one convenient probe. It even shows you the amount of euros, dollars or yen that flow through a particular pipe.

Measuring flow direction in compressed air networks: Just a gimmick or a useful feature?

In the industries that use compressed air, the awareness is growing that flow measurements are necessary to cut down on energy usage and costs. Permanent monitoring of compressed air consumption is key to substantial savings. In some cases however, measuring the air demand is not as straightforward as it seems, for example when measuring in ring networks or near buffer vessels. This is shown in the article that has been written by Pascal van Putten, Managing director op VPInstruments. In the article an example of a German factory is used, to show the complexity of the situation but also to show how this situation can be unraffled by using the VPFlowScope.

Closing a leak is pure profit

In this period of economic turbulence, reducing costs is more important than ever. But one way, reducing the usage of compressed air, is often overlooked. Considering compressed air is an astonishing twenty times more expensive than electricity, you would think of ways how to reduce the use of compressed air. So the conservative section is slowly changing its mind, starting in Europe. Cynthia Kuiper, commercial director of VPInstruments points out how VPInstruments can help in this matter. Not just for once, but continuously, for optimal efficiency and savings.
