The William Wrigley Jr. Company is a company that originally sold products such as soap and baking powder. In 1982 William Wrigley Jr. began packaging chewing gum with their products, but the chewing gum eventually became more popular than the baking powder and Wrigley reoriented the company to produce the gum.
The company is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, employs approximately 17,000 associates globally and operates as a subsidiary of Mars, Incorporated. Based in McLean, Virginia, Mars has net sales of more than $30 billion, and more than 70,000 associates worldwide that are putting the Mars Principles into action to make a difference for people and the planet through their performance.
The company currently sells its products in more than 180 countries and maintains 140 factories in various countries, including the United States, Mexico, Canada, Spain, New Zealand, Germany, South Africa, North Korea (The only US enterprise there), France China, India, Russia and Poland. The Polish factory is the largest production facility of Wrigley in Europe.
