Design Engineer & Team organizer
We are expanding our team with a Design Engineer & Team organizer. The Design Engineer & Team organizer will work in the R&D department to develop and improve our flow meters and other instrumentation, as well as ensuring a smooth R&D organization. Help us to create innovative, easy-to-use, high-quality products for the global manufacturing industry which enable them to save energy.
What we do:
VPInstruments mission is to make the world a better and more sustainable place by eliminating industrial energy waste. We do this by developing, producing, and supplying instrumentation and monitoring software for compressed air and technical gasses. Our products can be found in many industrial production plants, for example glass production, food and beverage, automotive, pharmaceutical plants, all over the world. We thrive on innovation and with our R&D department we work on improving our products and designing new state-of-the-art products, which we manufacture ourselves.

What can you expect of the Design Engineer & Team organizer job?
As a Design Engineer & Team organizer, you have a dual role. On the one hand you are developing together with the team new products, you are optimizing existing products and expanding the product portfolio. You like working on R&D projects from concept to production, you are familiar with requirement engineering, and you are interested in both research and development. During product development you make prototypes to test and evaluate new concepts and you have contact with possible new and existing suppliers.
You have a focus on mechanical engineering, and you can combine this with electronics and software engineering to develop complete products. You are happy to work alone, as well as in small teams with colleagues or with external partners, but anyway you carry through to solve problems.
As the Team organizer, you are the smooth organizer of the entire R&D department. You administer and guard the department’s KPI’s, budget and planning, bringing the team together when needed to discuss how you get things done and how to continuously improve the department. You like planning and chairing meetings, including four times per year the 360-feedback meeting of the R&D self-managing team. And you are first point of contact of the design engineering team for urgent customer support or quality issues.
What we would expect from you:
- You have a background in Industrial Design Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or relevant similar education, at HBO or WO level
- You have at least 5 years work experience in a similar field
- You are familiar with using SolidWorks
- You have basic knowledge and interest in electronics, software, and physics (fluid flow)
- You are fluent in English, Dutch is not necessary but very nice to have, just like other language skills
- You work accurately and organized
- You have like planning, and you have chairman skills
- You are a team player and enjoy working with your colleagues
- You are available for 32 to 40 hours per week
- You are living within a radius of 30 km, or you are willing to move to the vicinity of Delft in the future

The R&D team is a self-managing team with joint responsibility for the R&D roadmap and the department. We value growth and thereby invest in your personal development.
